Exterior Design

The house is a composition of white flat-roof boxes accented with rich wood-finish cladding. Deep frames around the first floor windows add shadow and depth, while large glass panels keep the facade open. The ground floor spreads wider than the first floor, leaving room for an open terrace above.

From the side, the wooden cladding wraps around the corner, and a neat lawn with paving completes the setting. The clean, balanced proportions give the house a calm, upscale feel.

The Skylight Courtyard

The standout feature is the courtyard that holds the staircase, covered by a skylight with a pergola. Daylight pours down through the pergola slats, creating beautiful patterns of light and shadow that change through the day. The courtyard becomes the bright core of the house, connecting the living, dining and pooja areas and lighting the upper floor too.

Because warm air rises through the open stair space and can escape near the skylight, the design also helps keep the house cooler naturally. With proper glazing and drainage, the skylight keeps rain out while letting light in.

A Dedicated Pooja Room

The ground floor includes a pooja room, placed close to the courtyard so it benefits from natural light. This gives the family a peaceful, sacred space for daily prayers and festivals.

Making the Most of 7 Cents

A 7 cent plot is about 3,050 square feet. By keeping the first floor smaller, the design leaves an open terrace for drying clothes, potted plants or future expansion, while the ground floor holds most daily activities. This balance suits the plot size well and keeps construction costs reasonable.

About the ₹46 Lakh Cost

The designer reported a construction cost of about ₹46 lakh, roughly ₹1,940 per square foot. A skylight, pergola and wooden cladding add to the cost but greatly enhance the living experience. Since prices change, request an updated, detailed estimate.

Interior Ideas

  • Line the courtyard with indoor plants and a pebble bed beneath the stairs.
  • Use a wooden staircase with a glass railing to keep the light flowing.
  • Design the pooja room with a carved wooden door and brass bells.
  • Choose white walls and wooden accents to match the exterior palette.
  • Add built-in wardrobes and study tables in the upstairs bedrooms.

Bedroom Arrangement

The four bedrooms are split evenly between the floors. On the ground floor, one bedroom has an attached bathroom and the other uses the common toilet, which also serves guests. Upstairs, two bedrooms share a common bathroom and open onto the upper living area, which leads to the balcony and open terrace. This arrangement keeps construction costs lower than having four attached bathrooms, while still giving every bedroom easy access to a bathroom. If needed, an extra attached bathroom can be planned upstairs at the design stage.

Who Is This Home For?

This plan suits families who love natural light, value a dedicated prayer space and want four bedrooms on a medium-sized plot. It works well for families with elders, since the ground floor holds the pooja room, kitchen and two bedrooms.

Tips Before You Build

  • Use toughened glass for the skylight and ensure proper drainage around it.
  • Choose weather-resistant wood or composite for the pergola and cladding.
